Child Therapy
Using the unique strengths and interests of the child as a starting point, we use psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and developmentally based modalities of play and art therapy to treat emotional and behavioral difficulties in children ages 3+. Through play, talk, and creative self-expression children are able to work through their emotional difficulties, strengthen their coping skills, and learn to relate to others in a more adaptive and flexible way.
Our approach to child therapy places a strong emphasis on parent/caregiver support and guidance. We believe that ongoing communication with caregivers is a crucial element of optimal child therapy, both to maintain an understanding of the evolving context in which your child is developing and to further the family's understanding of the child's internal world and how to respond to it.
