Dr. Brennan is a clinical psychologist who works with adults, couples, children, adolescents, and families. She has over 15 years of experience with a range of issues including trauma; mood, anxiety, and personality disorders; difficulty with communication, trust, and intimacy in relationships; emotional and behavioral challenges in children and adolescents; and family conflict. Recognizing that insight is sometimes not enough to generate change, her approach combines exploration with more active, here-and-now interventions. Dr. Brennan's style is warm and down-to-earth, and she carefully tailors treatments to each patient's needs.

Dr. Brennan has extensive training in psychodynamic, family systems, couples and play therapy, and she is DBT certified. When treating children, she works closely with parents and caregivers to help them understand their child's internal world and how best to respond to it. In her work with all patients, she is sensitive to relevant social and cultural contexts and influences. At Uptown Downtown, Dr. Brennan provides individual supervision and runs the Child and Family supervision group.

Dr. Brennan earned her BA in English from the University of Chicago and her Ph.D. from LIU-Brooklyn; completed an advanced post-doctoral fellowship in the treatment of trauma at Mount Sinai Morningside; and spent years working in NYC hospitals including Columbia University Medical Center, Beth Israel, St. Luke's Roosevelt, and Bronx Children's Psychiatric Center.
