Healing Within Estrangement: A Group for the Parents

More and more parents find themselves in the position of having a grown child cut off ties with them.  Parents are left with an array of painful feelings, including grief, hurt, anger, outrage, and helplessness.

This group will offer support to parents as they navigate a series of common dilemmas:

* How long should I keep trying to resurrect this relationship if my overtures consistently meet with rejection?

* How should I address the fact that my ex-husband/ex-wife actively undermines my relationship with my child?

* How can I build a bridge back to my child when everything he/she says about our relationship feels wrong and triggers my rage?

* What should I say to other people (who are not aware that my child has cut off ties) when they ask about my child in casual conversation?

Ms. Sahlein will facilitate a therapeutic, non-judgmental space in which parents work collaboratively on one another's behalf.  Members of this group will learn from one another's successes and failures, empower one another to find greater agency in their relationships, and ultimately, help one another to chart new, more satisfying paths forward.

This group is led by Ms. Salein and meets in-person. Please inquire for details for next group start date.

Rate: $125/session (sliding scale available).
